UI students take flight to Norway for lesson in rocket science
Two University of Iowa students are traveling to northern Norway for “rocket school” this month, the only American students taking part in the program this year, reports Radio Iowa. Emily Silich of Epworth and Danny Tallon of Mondamin, both physics majors, will spend a week designing, building and launching a 9-foot-long carbon fiber science rocket as part of the Canada-Norway Student Sounding Rocket program. The UI joined the partnership after David Miles, UI professor of physics/astronomy and native Canadian, joined the UI faculty. Silich and Tallon’s trip is funded by the U.S. National Science Foundation.
