Unemployment claims drop to 400,000 last week
The number of Americans making new claims for unemployment benefits dropped last week to a level that shows limited improvement in the labor market, Bloomberg reported.
Applications decreased by 1,000 in the week ended July 30 to 400,000, the fewest in almost four months, according to statistics the U.S. Department of Labor released today. Economists had forecast 405,000 claims.
