United Fire & Casualty Co. said today that it had net income of $9 million, or 35 cents per share, for the quarter ending Dec. 31, 2010.

United Fire & Casualty Co. said today that it had net income of $9 million, or 35 cents per share, for the quarter ending Dec. 31, 2010, compared with $1.7 million, or 7 cents per share, for the same quarter a year ago. For all of 2010, the Cedar Rapids-based insurer reported income of $47.5 million. The company reported a loss of $10.4 million for all of 2009.
