Des Moines International Airport announced this morning that United Airlines will begin nonstop flights to Los Angeles International Airport from Des Moines, beginning Feb. 13.

“We’re really pleased to deliver a Valentine’s Day treat to our customers there and give them additional nonstop service,” said Jeff Kovick, a United spokesman in Chicago. “This will be the third city we’ll serve nonstop from Des Moines, the others being Chicago and Denver.”

The flights, which can be booked now, will depart daily from Des Moines at 7 a.m., with a return flight from Los Angeles arriving at 10:25 p.m. each evening. The route will be served by the 66-seat Canadair Regional Jet 700.

Airport spokesman Roy Criss said United’s announcement means travelers will soon have nonstop access to all 10 of the most popular destination cities from Des Moines.
