Volunteers helped with projects such as reading with elementary students, revitalizing nonprofit facilities and enhancing outdoor spaces. The collective effort generated an estimated economic impact of more than $74,151, a news release said. Each project was aligned with an element of United Way’s United to Thrive framework. “Day of Action is more than a volunteer event, it’s a powerful reminder of what we can accomplish when compassion, purpose, and community come together to create lasting impact,” Mary Sellers, president of United Way of Central Iowa, said in a prepared statement. “It’s a meaningful opportunity for individuals and corporate partners to connect with our community’s needs and take action.”
