After paying an internationally known consultant more than $250,000 to explore a “Center for Entrepreneurial Innovation,” the University of Iowa is putting the project on hold, reports the Cedar Rapids GazetteThe halt is part of a five-month moratorium on new campus construction UI President Bruce Harreld announced in April. The innovation center was proposed as an initiative of the UI Henry B. Tippie College of Business in 2017, and didn’t necessarily begin as a new construction project, the Gazette reports. This week, the university also announced the closure of seven centers statewide, including the Labor Center and the Iowa Center for Higher Education. Those closures are budget related.
