Urban working from home after selling Somerfield Village Center – and his offic

Greater Des Moines businessman Tim Urban said he is working from home and considering development opportunities after selling his Somerfield Village Center for $13 million late last month to an investment group led by California attorney Kaar Field. Urban said he mostly fields business opportunites for his Urban Development Corp. from home anyway, so losing office space at Somerfield didn’t have much of an impact. Somerfield Village Center included multifamily units, offices, retail spaces and a Walgreens pharmacy. A deed was filed Aug. 11 for the $5.2 million sale of the Walgreens at 4900 Mills Civic Parkway. On July 31, a deed was filed for the $7.8 million sale of 4800 Mills Civic Parkway, where Urban had an office. Urban said he has no deals in the works, but is considering several possibilities. A Field-led group also recently purchased an East Village office and retail building developed by Jake Christiansen on an old parking lot. Read more
