Energy Control Technologies, an Urbandale-based company that provides automation control systems for the oil and gas, biofuels and industrial and manufacturing markets, plans to expand its operations. The Urbandale City Council will be asked during its meeting today to support the 8-year-old company’s application for up to $37,500 in direct financial assistance through the state’s High Quality Jobs program. Energy Control Technologies currently employs 18 people at 2751 99th St. Plans are for an estimated $506,000 project to move into larger space on Justin Drive and hire 10 people over three years at an annual wage of $65,000 plus benefits, according to a report to the City Council. The investment includes leasing and equipping the new space as well as expenses for research and development. The city would provide $7,500 from its revolving loan fund.
