Corridor Business Journal: Shareholders of Raytheon and United Technologies Corp. have approved a merger that will make the combined entity the world’s second-largest aerospace company, behind only Boeing. The two companies announced today that shareholders of both entities overwhelmingly approved the merger combining UTC’s aerospace businesses, comprising Collins Aerospace and Pratt & Whitney, with Raytheon. The merger would create Raytheon Technologies Corp. The transaction is expected to close in the first half of 2020, subject to regulatory approvals and UTC’s sale of its Otis and Carrier businesses. Two of Collins’ business units ? Mission Systems and Avionics ? are based in Cedar Rapids.
