Valley Junction a ‘Great American Main Street’
The National Trust for Historic Preservation said today that the Valley Junction neighborhood in West Des Moines has been chosen as a 2012 Great American Main Street Award winner. “Despite difficult odds, by drawing on the district’s strengths and key stakeholders, West Des Moines is now a safe, family friendly environment that pays tribute to its history, culture and heritage,” Doug Loescher, director of the National Trust Main Street Center, said in a news release recognizing the work of the Historic Valley Junction Foundation.
