Vehicle sales were sluggish through May
Sales of new vehicles in Iowa dropped 1.6 percent over a 12-month period that ended in May, though total sales of 144,818 were well above the low of 98,618 from December 2009, near the end of the Great Recession, according to a report from the state Legislative Services Agency. Still, the 12-month average of new vehicle registrations has shown a decline compared with the prior year for three straight months, according to the report.
