Monte Berg

The board of directors of Veridian Credit Union has named Monte Berg, currently senior vice president of finance, as its new CEO. He succeeds Jean Trainor, who announced in August 2014 that she would be leaving the credit union after 25 years as CEO and chief inclusion officer. Berg will begin his new role effective May 26, the credit union said in a release. Berg joined Veridian in 1990, when it was John Deere Community Credit Union. The Waterloo-based credit union has since grown from 40,000 members to 186,000 members and assets of $2.6 billion, making it the state’s largest credit union. “Monte’s leadership and experience position us well for the future,” said Veridian Credit Union’s board chair, Paul Gengler, who also served on the search committee. “He continually focuses on what’s best for our members and employees.”  Berg, a certified public accountant, is a graduate of Iowa State University and received a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Northern Iowa. He is a native of Rockwell City, Iowa.
