Waukee, Iowa’s fastest-growing school district, will move forward with construction of a second high school, the Des Moines Register reported. Waukee voters on Tuesday approved a $117 million bond issue to build a second high school near the Waukee Family YMCA. The new high school, which has not yet been named, is scheduled to open in 2021. In Ankeny, voters approved an $18 million bond referendum to build the city’s 11th elementary school, which will be located north of the Des Moines Area Community College campus. And in Urbandale, voters approved a $59 million plan to build two new elementary schools and the school district’s first fitness center. The two new schools will replace four of Urbandale’s six existing elementary schools as part of a modernization plan.
