Veridian Credit Union is now accepting public votes for its annual Spark the Spirit campaign. The campaign will dole out $38,000 to 20 nonprofits across Iowa and eastern Nebraska in celebration of Giving Tuesday on Nov. 29. Five organizations in the Des Moines metro area are included in the campaign: the Animal Rescue League of Iowa, Ankeny Service Center, Children’s Cancer Connection, Des Moines Refugee Support and Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity. Votes will be accepted through Friday, Nov. 11. The top vote-getting organization in each region will receive $5,000; those with the second- and third-most votes will receive $2,500 and $1,000, respectively. Others will receive $500. “The holidays are often a time of increased need, and many in our communities are facing an additional, unique set of challenges,” Veridian President and CEO Renee Christoffer, said. “Spark the Spirit is one way to make a difference and a reminder for all of us the importance of giving locally.” Details can be found on the Veridian Credit Union website.
