Voting opens for Community Kickstarter projects
The Wellmark Foundation has received 119 applications for Community Kickstarter grants, and now it’s time for Iowans to vote for their favorite community projects. Each grant will fund up to $10,000 for projects in Iowa and South Dakota focused on making community members more active or improving access to healthy foods. “The large number of applications is a testament to communities wanting to improve the health and well-being of their citizens,” said Stephanie Perry, Wellmark Foundation manager. “We received requests for all types of projects, from park and playground renovations to farmers market and community garden projects.” In 2015 the Community Kickstarter grant program provided $518,329 to 54 projects in Iowa and South Dakota. To vote for projects between now and Oct. 7, visit Wellmark’s Facebook page.
