The owners of two Ingersoll Avenue art galleries have teamed up to introduce a new auction gallery concept in Des Moines.

Jackie and TJ Moberg and Chris and Ted Irvine have announced plans to launch Wandering Gallery Auctions, a traveling venue for fine arts and curated objects that will include art furniture, jewelry and handmade one-of-a-kind clothing.

“Wandering Gallery Auctions will have a fun, unintimidating atmosphere where those with an appreciation for original materials will uncover unique finds,” said Ted Irvine.

The venture will host a launch party for its first show on June 20 from 6 to 9 p.m. The first venue will be a design-oriented commercial studio space at 1717 Ingersoll Ave., which was recently renovated by Simonson & Associates Architects. Wandering Gallery Auctions will be open Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sunday, June 28. The show will close July 25.

Subsequent shows are likely to venture to other interesting architectural spaces throughout Greater Des Moines, Irvine said.

The gallery will feature a silent auction option. Clients can purchase a piece for the listed price at any time, or they can take a chance and submit a bid as part of a silent auction that will run throughout the show. At the show’s closing, items not previously sold will go to the highest qualified silent auction bid. Live auctions are also a planned future component of the gallery.

Another twist to the gallery operation, said Jackie Moberg, is that 5 percent of each show’s revenues will be donated to select local charities.

Both couples plan to continue operating their respective galleries: Moberg Gallery, 2921 Ingersoll Ave., and The Mansion, 2801 Ingersoll Ave.
