Hubbell Realty Co. has not officially called for an evacuation of its RiverPoint Business Park, but some of its tenants are scrambling to move out before floodwaters move in. The property is located on Southwest Seventh Street, and the rising Raccoon River poses a very real threat.

The RiverPoint development has a total of 735,000 square feet, of which 688,000 square feet is occupied. Hubbell is not insisting that anyone leave their office, but is encouraging tenants to use their judgment as to how to handle the situation. Hubbell will help to relocate anyone from RiverPoint to a number of temporary locations that the company have set up around Greater Des Moines.

Flynn Wright is one of the RiverPoint tenants that have been working to move to higher ground. Employees have been packing up their offices while trying not to disrupt any of their clients’ needs. Andy Flynn said that he is not sure where the agency will move to, but he hoped to be out by Tuesday night. He has been working closely with Hubbell to find a temporary location that can meet the company’s needs and keep the business running smoothly. Flynn said that the company’s managers made the decision to move their office when they found out that state employees had begun putting up sandbags around many of the state buildings near the river and evacuating their offices.
