Water rates to rise in rural areas and towns

Des Moines Water Works will increase its water rates to some Polk and Warren county users by 5 percent next year, it said in a news release.

The rate increase is based on infrastructure  improvements needed in those areas. Des Moines and most of its suburbs will not see an increase in rates this year, although  residential and commercial users in Pleasant Hill, Alleman, Cumming and Runnells will see rate increases, as will rural users in Polk and Warren Counties.
