Waterloo airport sees record growth

125 wordsAll Latest News, TransportationWaterloo Regional Airport announced it has experienced record growth this year, including expanded flight service, a doubling of passenger counts compared to 2024, and new state grant funding for infrastructure.
The airport this year has:
- Introduced a new early morning departure and evening return.
- Welcomed a larger American Airlines aircraft featuring first-class seating.
- Recorded more than 4,100 passengers in July, its highest number since May 2019 and double 2024 numbers.
- Travelers from 407 U.S. ZIP codes used the airport during June and July.
The Iowa Transportation Commission also recently approved fiscal year 2026 Commercial Service Vertical Infrastructure project funding for the airport. The Iowa DOT grant will update the terminal with new flooring and paint, further positioning the airport to serve increasing passenger demand.
