Waukee Mayor Peard won’t seek reelection
Waukee Mayor Bill Peard today announced he won’t seek reelection. “At the end of this year, I will step aside as Mayor. After much conversation with my family, we determined it is time to pass the baton to a new leader,” Peard said after 14 years as mayor. He plans to remain active in community projects. Waukee became one of the nation’s fastest-growing cities while Peard was mayor, and is widely known for a coming Apple data center development there, rapid growth of the school district, and the Kettlestone development area.
