Waukee to break ground for second high school on Dec. 11
The Waukee Community School District will host a groundbreaking ceremony for its second high school and sports complex on Dec. 11 at 2 p.m. The second high school, which is scheduled to open in the fall of 2021, will be located at 655 N.W. 10th St., on a 160-acre green space that the district will share with the City of Waukee. The concept for the 382,000-square-foot building was developed through an interactive process over the last six months between frk Architects & Engineers, district administration and a visioning committee comprised of parents, students, staff and community members. Waukee is the fastest-growing school district in Iowa, gaining an average of 500 new students each year for the last five years. The new school will accommodate 1,800 students plus teachers and staff. For a fact sheet on the project, click here.
