Wellmark names chief medical officer
Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield announced Thursday that Dr. Timothy Gutshall will join the organization as vice president and chief medical officer. Gutshall received his medical degree from the University of Iowa and began his career as a family medicine physician. He practiced medicine in the Des Moines area for 25 years, working as a family doctor and an emergency room physician. In 2004, he joined Telligen (formerly the Iowa Foundation for Medical Care), where he currently serves as the chief medical officer.
