Ward Municipal Water Treatment Plant at 1505 Railroad Ave. on Oct. 29, as it begins the planning process for construction of new, permanent offices, according to a release. A major construction project at City Hall, coupled with the utility’s need for additional, more-efficient space, led to the West Des Moines Water Works board of trustees’ decision to relocate. The flood of 1993 forced the Water Works from the longtime home of its administrative offices in Valley Junction. After several years in the West Des Moines Library complex, Water Works acquired its existing site in City Hall, where it has been for more than 15 years.
