In the first six months of 2022, commercial building permits were issued for the construction of nine new convenience stores with fuel pumps, a review of communities’ records shows. Permits valued at over $18.3 million were issued for the construction of Hy-Vee’s Fast & Fresh, Kwik Star and Kum & Go.

The addresses of the projects, permit values and date the permit was issued include:

• 211 N.E. Gateway Drive, Grimes. A permit valued at $4.8 million was issued Jan. 4 for a Hy-Vee Fast & Fresh with fuel pumps.

• 12905 Meredith Drive, Urbandale. A permit valued at $760,307 was issued Jan. 25 for a Fast & Fresh with a coffee shop.

• 14200 Douglas Parkway, Urbandale. A permit valued at $913,317 was issued Feb. 3 for a Fast & Fresh with a Smokey Row coffee shop. On April 15, a permit valued at $347,660 was issued for a canopy over the fuel pumps.

• 15501 Meredith Drive, Urbandale. A permit valued at $424,586 was issued March 18 for a Fast & Fresh with fuel pumps. On April 22, a permit valued at $302,840 was issued for a canopy over the fuel pumps.

• 9150 University Ave., West Des Moines. A permit valued at $3.5 million was issued March 30 for a Fast & Fresh with fuel pumps. On March 21, a permit valued at $950,000 was issued for a canopy over the fuel pumps.
