White House set to announce new commerce secretary
President Barack Obama will nominate former Edison International CEO John Bryson today to be the next commerce secretary, Reuters reported.
Bryson would replace Gary Locke, whom Obama has chosen to become U.S. ambassador to China. Bryson was chairmen and CEO of Edison from 1990 to 2008, and currently serves on several boards. His appointment would continue a White House trend of nominating senior business executives to top government posts.
