Ryan Companies U.S. Inc. and its subcontractors have amassed 250,000 injury-free hours at the Nationwide Mutual Insurance Co. operation center expansion, 1200 Locust St., Des Moines. The $44 million project is scheduled for completion in November.

In 2007, Ryan had an injury rate of .34 injuries per 100 full-time hours worked, well below the industry average as reported by the Associated General Contractors of America of 2.2 injuries per 100 hours.

Including all operations, Ryan employees and subcontractors worked 5.6 million hours last year.
