Ben Frein already owns and operates five businesses. Now he has added a trophy to his resume – and he’s not done yet.

Frein, a 24-year-old entrepreneur just six months removed from graduating from the University of Northern Iowa, won first place in a regional competition for the Global Student Entrepreneur Awards (GSEA) held Oct. 23 in Chicago.

Frein gave a 10-minute presentation about his company and answered questions from a panel. His company, E-Holdings LLC, which is operated out of the UNI John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center’s Student Business Incubator, owns and operates multiple e-commerce businesses. He has created www.bellybling.net, a site that sells bellybutton rings, www.bodybling.net, which sells body jewelry, and www.greatminiatures.com, which sells dollhouses and dollhouse furniture.

Frein is one of 13 U.S. and 19 international finalists selected from regional sites to compete for $150,000 in cash, prizes and services at the GSEA Global Finals Competition on Nov. 18-20 in Kansas City, Mo.
