A first-ever Zombie Food Drive – “The Walking Fed” – is being held now through March 28 to benefit the Food Bank of Iowa with cash and food donations. LAZER 103.3 and Jay’s CD & Hobby are joining forces to collect donations at Jay’s two locations at Southeast 14th Street and Park Avenue and at Valley West Mall, where they are matching every donation made, up to $10,000. On March 28, the “zombies” themselves will be on hand for a drive-thru donation event at Jay’s CD & Hobby on Southeast 14th Street to take donations between noon and 6 p.m. The Food Bank of Iowa, which works with 390 partner agencies in 55 Iowa counties. estimates that one in eight Iowans are food insecure.
