$1.5M in career academy grants awarded to two Iowa community colleges
Gov. Kim Reynolds and the Iowa Department of Education awarded Monday $1.5 million in grants through the Career Academy Incentive Fund to Western Iowa Tech Community College and Indian Hills Community College. Western Iowa Tech received a $1 million grant, which will fund a new regional center in Denison. The center will expand access to career academy programs in agriculture, business, electrical and education for five surrounding rural school districts. The $500,000 grant going to Indian Hills will expand career academy programs at the Hills West Regional Center to include business, health sciences, social work and sports medicine academies. A $1 million grant was used to fund the initial development of the regional center.
