$1.8M available to Polk County nonprofits connecting youths with critical housing

94 wordsAll Latest News, Government Policy and Law, Real Estate and DevelopmentPolk County nonprofits are encouraged to apply for $1.8 million in grants available through the national Youth Homelessness Demonstration Program to help connect young people with critical housing and supportive services. The grant money was given to the city of Des Moines in 2019 by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The national YHDP grant program supports local communities in the development of a coordinated approach to end youth homelessness; Des Moines was one of only 23 communities nationally selected to offer the two-year grant projects.
