10th public art bus unveiled in downtown Des Moines

The Greater Des Moines Public Art Foundation and the Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority (DART) have unveiled Des Moines’ 10th public art bus as part of the Project Spaces initiative, which places contemporary works of art in accessible and visible public spaces, DART announced in a press release“Multiple Black,” a bus wrap design created by artist and Iowa State University professor of architecture Mitchell Squire, was unveiled Thursday and can be viewed as it travels on DART bus routes throughout Des Moines. The Greater Des Moines Public Art Foundation and Squire also presented $500 awards to the nonprofits Art Force Iowa, Children Family Urban Movement and Urban Dreams to purchase bus passes for families and youths in Central Iowa. “Multiple Black” was chosen from more than 325 submissions by 45 artists from 21 states.
