20 Iowa students of color named Athene USA Game Changer Scholars
Twenty Iowa high school students have been named to the inaugural class of Athene USA Game Changer Scholars. The Game Changer Scholars program is designed to support underrepresented Latino and Black students in achieving their educational goals. The 20 students, from towns and cities across the state, each received a $2,000 scholarship. “Athene believes all students deserve an education to build a strong foundation for their future and has a history of supporting education initiatives in pursuit of closing the education gaps for underrepresented minority students,” the company said in a news release. Students were selected based on academic performance, demonstrated leadership and participation in school and community activities, work experience, and a statement of career and educational goals and objectives, and must be Iowa residents with plans to attend college or university in Iowa.
