Twenty local artists will present their work for the first time in a public setting on Oct. 11 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Salisbury House & Gardens as part of the Des Moines Social Club’s Out Your Artist event.

Out Your Artist’s goal is to show the community hidden talent in Des Moines, and to encourage other “closeted artists” to show their artistic abilities.

The event will also pay respect to  to those observing National Coming Out Day, which has taken place on Oct. 11 since 1988 and encourages those in the gay, lesbian and transgender community to tell those closest to them about their sexual orientation.

The event cost is $20. Proceeds support the Des Moines Social Club, Salisbury House & Gardens and Central Iowa Shelter & Services.
