The Healthiest State Initiative has announced the winners of its 2023 Healthiest State Workplace, Individual, and Healthy Hometown awards. The awards ceremony was held in person on April 20th during the 2023 Workplace Wellbeing Conference. The winners were recognized for their contributions to improving the physical, social and emotional well-being of their employees and communities. The winners of the Healthy Hometown Powered by Wellmark Community Award are Bettendorf, Grundy Center and Hiawatha. Becky West of the Solon received the individual award, presented by Malvern Bank. The winners in the workplace category are Availa Bank (small), DLL Finance (medium) and the University of Iowa (large). Each winner received a monetary prize to continue their efforts in improving health and wellness. The remaining winners in the Early Care, K-12 School, Health Care, Out-of-School, and Youth Power categories will be announced Oct. 25 during the 2023 5-2-1-0 Healthy Choices Count Summit. The annual awards are sponsored by Wellmark Blue Cross and Blue Shield, HealthPartners UnityPoint Health, Iowa Department of Health and Human Services, Iowa Medical Society, Holmes Murphy and Malvern Bank.
