Des Moines Register: A developer wants to build 216 apartment units on the banks of the Raccoon River just across from downtown Des Moines, but at least one City Council member believes the project needs improvements before it can move forward. The Union at River’s Edge would occupy a cleared former industrial site at 214 Jackson Ave., bordered by the Meredith Trail and adjacent to both the Southwest Second Avenue bridge and the Jackson Avenue pedestrian/bike trail bridge.
