AT&T Inc., Verizon Wireless, Sprint Nextel Corp. and T-Mobile USA Inc. will set up a service allowing customers to send text messages to emergency aid call center 911, Reuters reported. Currently, emergency 911 services can only accessed through a phone call. The four carriers are expected to have the services available nationwide by May 2014. The phone companies will provide an automatic “bounce-back” text message by June 30, 2013, if text-to-911 is unavailable in an area.
