Des Moines Register: Carvana, an online used-car retailer, is opening an office in Des Moines, the Arizona-based company’s first physical presence in Iowa. The new office hub will serve as the “last stop before the car gets to the customer,” company spokesperson Veronica Cardenas said. “Now that we’re there and we have the hub and we’ve got folks on the ground, we can get the vehicle as early as next day to customers,” Cardenas said. The company is known for its used-car “vending machines” ? glass towers from which a car is lowered when a buyer inserts a token. Cardenas said that while a vending machine isn’t yet coming to Des Moines, Carvana’s debut in the state indicates possible growth in Iowa.
