Big Grove Brewery & Taproom will open to the public at 3 p.m. on Wednesday at its new location in Des Moines at 555 17th St. Operators of the brewery, which has locations in Iowa City and Solon, announced in July 2021 that they planned on opening a brewery and taproom in the building that once was home to Crescent Chevrolet auto dealership. The 10-barrel brewery and taproom and patio are located on the building’s east side. Big Grove opened in 2013 with a brewhouse in Solon. Four years later, it opened a 28,000-square-foot production facility in Iowa City, where it anchors the Iowa City Riverfront Crossings redevelopment project. The Des Moines City Council, at its July 18 meeting, approved a Class C liquor license for Big Grove Brewery.
