Olson-Douglas leaving city of Des Moines for ISU

Olson-Douglas, who confirmed her resignation, has accepted a position as director of community and economic development for Iowa State University Extension and associate dean for outreach at ISU’s College of Design. Olson-Douglas joined the city of Des Moines’ staff in July 2008 as an urban designer. In January 2012, she became an economic development coordinator, a position she held for over five years. She became director of the Office of Economic Development in February 2017; in July 2020, she was named director of development services. Des Moines City Manager Scott Sanders will conduct a nationwide search for Olson-Douglas’ replacement.
