Cedar Rapids-based Rockwell Collins Inc. announced today that it has partnered with Atkins, a global design firm that specializes in identity management solutions ranging from departure security in airports to fraud detection for government, to integrate technologies and create a new form that will allow airports to confirm a traveler’s identity using biometrics (e.g., fingerprints, facial recognition or iris scan) and match that data with the passenger’s passport and boarding pass information.
The integration will streamline passenger processing through the airport via self-service, from passenger identification at check-in to self-boarding gates, according to a news release.
Rockwell Collins also announced the introduction of a new mobile airport check-in technology, which will allow airlines and ground handling agents to utilize a tablet-based application to check in passengers from anywhere in an airport.
Rockwell Collins will demonstrate both systems at this week’s Passenger Terminal Expo 2015 in Paris.
