SBA backs $11.2 million in Iowa loans in February

157 wordsAll Latest News, Retail and BusinessThe U.S. Small Business Administration backed 35 loans from participating lenders for a combined $11.2 million for Iowa businesses. $4.97 million of that was awarded to businesses in Central Iowa.
Two key SBA programs capitalized 13 new and 22 existing businesses that reported creating 90 jobs and retaining 313.
Included in the loans were $2.3 million for a new business in Iowa City, Jones & Zirker Family Dentistry, P.C.; $1.2 million for Winco Transport LLC, a Grimes freight company; and $993,000 for a new business in Ames, SportsIowa LLC.
Other loans for Polk County businesses included $500,000 for 1COMM Medical Inc., $10,000 for Psyclewerks Inc. in Ankeny and $200,000 for Fox Brewing LLC, a new business in West Des Moines.
In 2015, the SBA has awarded a total of $5.33 million to Central Iowa businesses.
