Airport passenger count up 1.1 percent in February
The number of passengers arriving at or departing from Des Moines International Airport grew by 1.1 percent in February, to 170,856 from 169,063. The biggest gainer among the carriers in February was Delta Air Lines Inc. at 11 percent; Frontier Airlines had the biggest drop in passengers at 51.2 percent. For the year, the airport’s passenger count was up 2.4 percent at through the end of February, to 348,921 from 340,892. Year-to-date data show United Airlines with the biggest percentage gain, 10.8 percent, rising to 83,541 from 75,371. Frontier’s passenger load had been cut by more than half, to 6,269 from 12,976.
