Hubbell has outgrown its space
Hubbell Realty Co. is running out of room at its headquarters office in West Des Moines and is deciding whether to add on to the building at 6900 Westown Parkway or build a new base of operations, Hubbell President and CEO Rick Tollakson said.
The company will present a preview of expansion plans Thursday to a subcommittee of the West Des Moines City Council.
“The best alternative is to expand, but there is always the option of building new. … We are developers,” Tollakson said.
The existing building, which recently underwent an interior remodel as a temporary fix to accommodate a growing staff, can be expanded to the west.
“We can add about 20 percent to the building,” Tollakson said.
When the building was completed 13 years ago, it provided more than enough room for 50 employees. The staff has increased to 120, and each division of the company will continue to grow, he said.
