Iowa U.S. Sen. Joni Ernst and former Iowa Attorney General Bonnie Campbell praised 50-50 in 2020’s bipartisan initiative to empower Iowa women politically. The two women were honored by 50-50 in 2020 on Sept. 20 at the group’s Annual Equity for Women Fundraiser in Des Moines. “We need more women to run for office,” Ernst said, noting that she works in the U.S. Senate “with women of a lot of different political beliefs.” Campbell, who worked on women’s human rights issues in the Clinton Administration after serving as attorney general, encouraged her audience to “cross political divides to fund solutions” to violent and unjust situations that plague women in our society. “I think women can find a way to get to the right answers,” Campbell said.
