The Global Insurance Accelerator, an initiative of the Greater Des Moines Partnership, announced Saturday that it has signed a contract with entrepreneur John Jackovin, founder of Bawte, a technology startup company that was shuttered in March. Partnership officials said Jackovin’s experience taking his startup through Techstars, a leading accelerator in Boulder, Colo., “adds tremendous experience and value as the GIA focuses more on programming, marketing, mentor relations, investor expansion and many other areas.” Jackovin officially began his work with the accelerator on Sept. 21, in a contract role slated through the end of 2015, with potential extension of the engagement into 2016. The Global Insurance Accelerator celebrated the graduation of its first 100-day class of insurance-related technology entrepreneurs earlier this year.
