Solheim Cup donates $13,000 to C.O.P.S.
The Solheim Cup’s November ticket-sale promotion to raise money for an Iowa organization that helps local police departments and families of officers killed on duty took in $13,000 for the charity. The event donated $5,000 to the Iowa charity, along with 10 percent of November ticket sales. Iowa C.O.P.S., a volunteer organization, has responded to five officer deaths this year. Iowa C.O.P.S. estimates it serves more than 350 family members and co-workers of officers who have died over many years. Solheim Cup, a professional women’s golf match between the United States of America and Europe, will be held at Des Moines Golf and Country Club in August.
