Ames has been selected as the first North American headquarters of Laboratorias Hipra, a Spanish animal health company. Pending approval of local and state incentives, the company announced plans to develop a manufacturing facility at the Iowa State University Research Park. Primarily dedicated to the production of vaccines, the facility is expected to house about 60 employees. “We are thrilled to have determined that Ames is the best place for us to grow our U.S. presence,” Laboratorias Hipra President David Nogareda said in a release. “The combination of the abundant animal health infrastructure along with Iowa State University makes this a compelling place for us to locate our operations.” Construction is slated to begin this fall.
