MidAmerican Solar, a division of Des Moines-based MidAmerican Renewables LLC, announced yesterday that construction is about two-thirds complete on the Agua Caliente solar project in Arizona.

The facility will be the world’s largest operating photovoltaic power plant. MidAmerican has partnered with First Solar Inc. and NRG Energy Inc. to complete the project by 2014.

The plant currently employs about 400 people and supplies 200 megawatts of power to the electric grid in Yuma County, Ariz.
