Automotive parts supplier DENSO International America Inc. plans to establish an assembly and warehousing facility in Urbandale, according to documents filed with the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA).

The company’s wholly owned U.S. subsidiary, DENSO Manufacturing Michigan Inc., is seeking economic development incentive funds from the state to lease and equip a 36,000-square-foot facility.

DENSO plans to localize assembly and warehousing of cooling modules used in the construction, agriculture and electric power industries.

The company is requesting an investment tax credit of approximately $34,500 through the High Quality Jobs Program for the $1.2 million project. The project would create seven jobs that must pay at least $23.12 per hour to qualify for the incentive; the IEDA board meets on Friday.

The facility would commence operations in late January 2013.
