Ankeny approves Staples site plan
Staples Inc. will construct an 18,000-square-foot store at 2407 S.E. Delaware Ave. in Ankeny.
On Feb. 8, the city’s Plan & Zoning Commission approved a site plan for the Framingham, Mass.-based retailer to build northwest of Menard Inc.’s store at 2505 S.E. Delaware Ave. According to Eric Jensen, Ankeny’s director of planning and building, Staples plans to acquire a 1.5-acre outlot from Menard Inc. and begin construction this spring.
The vacant land has an assessed value for tax purposes of $659,400, according to the Polk County assessor’s website.
Last year, Tasty Tacos Inc. completed the development of a 3,454-square-foot fast-food restaurant at 2401 S.E. Delaware Ave., southwest of Staples’ proposed site.
Staples is expected to relocate from its current Ankeny location at 906 E. First St.
